Arctic Script Lab | Open Call for Applications

Dear film enthusiasts, The Reykjavík International Film Festival is now accepting applications for the Arctic Script Lab, a two-phase mentorship programme for emerging Nordic screenwriters developing their first or second feature film. Arctic Script Lab brings together up to eight screenwriters from the Nordic region for intensive development of feature-length projects – whether fiction, documentary, or hybrid work. The programme is mentored by acclaimed Icelandic director Dagur Kári (Nói albínói; Dark Horse, Un Certain Regard — Cannes), and co-developed with Nuuk International Film Festival, with the support of Nordic Culture Fund. We are particularly interested in stories rooted in Arctic and northern perspectives – narratives that explore themes of ecology, social change, cultural heritage, and community resilience. We especially welcome screenwriters with Arctic or Indigenous backgrounds, as well as those whose work engages authentically with northern storytelling traditions.
